             abstract = "The presented work aims to use remote sensing techniques to 
                         perform a temporal analysis on the phenomenon of arenization in 
                         the municipality of Quara{\'{\i}}, State of Rio Grande do Sul. 
                         the event is the result of sand deposit, consequence of water and 
                         wind dynamics. the immediate outcome is the difficult for the 
                         vegetation to allocate in this areas. the methodology was based on 
                         multitemporal Landsat imagery, sensors TM (Landsat 5) and OLI 
                         (Landsat 8), orbit 224 and point 081, made available by the United 
                         States Geological Survey - USGS - and the National Institute of 
                         Space Research INPE. We used a supervised classification approach 
                         to identify the areas of sand deposit for the years of 1986, 1996, 
                         2006 and 2016. We used the MaxVer algorithm The year of 2006 
                         presented the most accumulation of sand, with 157.77 ha, 
                         contrasting with the year of 1986, with 138.06 ha, the least 
                         accumulation. The results made possible to quantify the dynamic of 
                         the arenization in the study area during the period. The 
                         methodology can be applied in any other area of study, for example 
                         other municipalities of the southwest region of Rio Grande do Sul 
                         State, since the area is affected by the phenomenon.",
